RObot traiNing INdependence

Introduction

Welcome to the RONIN Project, an innovative initiative aimed at empowering adolescents with developmental disabilities (DDs) to lead independent adult lives. Through cutting-edge robot-assisted training, RONIN focuses on developing essential social and cognitive skills necessary for entering adulthood. Our project addresses the pressing need for effective, accessible training solutions that help bridge the gap between childhood and independent adult living for millions of individuals with DDs across Europe and beyond.

Goals and Impact

RONIN’s primary goal is to create a comprehensive training toolkit embedded in a robot-assisted environment, which will revolutionize the way adolescents with DDs are prepared for adulthood. By leveraging the latest advancements in embodied learning, RONIN’s training protocols are designed to build independence in three key areas: self-care, social interactions, and handling stressful situations. Our ultimate aim is to reduce the societal and familial burden associated with lifelong lack of autonomy, offering a brighter, more independent future for those with developmental disabilities.
